Manchester United are on the brink of securing a loan move for Bayern Munich misfit Renato Sanches, according to reports.
Sanches joined Bayern from Benfica for a fee of £31million last summer – in a deal totaling around £72m – but the 19-year-old had an underwhelming debut season in Germany, failing to find the net in 17 Bundesliga appearances.
Bayern are reportedly open to offers for Sanches ahead of the 2017/18 campaign but would prefer to send the Portugal youngster out on loan, with AC Milan particularly interested.
However, The Sun claim Jose Mourinho is hopeful of wrapping up a deal for the teen and the Red Devils are closing in on a loan move.
Last week, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: ‘He is a player who needs to play regularly.
‘So if we feel he is not going to get enough game time, then we will loan him out, or maybe even sell him.
